TEACHING EXPERIENCE

All CCAD courses taught in computer-mediated classrooms.

  • Liberal Arts 0290/090: Basic Writing. Focus on developing writing skills, grammar, punctuation, and organization. Includes extended essay form and multiple journal responses. Emphasis on "writing the senses" in response to observing various works of art displayed at local museums and galleries. (Autumn 2012, Spring 2015, Spring 2016)   

  

  • Liberal Arts 12090/190: Writing and the Arts. Emphasis on developing an extended argument of students’ choice through rhetorical analysis of digital and visual sources, personal reflection, and intensive research. Requires writing for revision, peer response, multimedia presentations, and process analysis. Incorporates formal expository essays and informal journal response papers. (Twenty-seven sections: Spring 2009 – Spring 2017)

  • Liberal Arts 2203: Art of Persuasion. Intensive course on presentation and research skills. Focus on rhetorical analysis, strategies of activism, visual culture. Driven by research, writing, discussion. (Autumn 2014, Autumn 2015, Autumn 2017)

  • Liberal Arts 2204: Introduction to Professional Writing. Development of familiarity with communication modes in the art and design professions. Focus on Artist Statements, Bios, and Manifestos, Resumes, Cover Letters, and presentations of Digital Writing Portfolios. (Autumn 2016, Autumn 2017)

  • Liberal Arts 390: Readings in American Literature – Focus on Identity in 20th and 21st Century Literature, Film, Music, and Culture. Emphasis on writing for revision, discourse analysis, collaboration, research, multimedia student presentations, peer reviews, and process analysis. (Three sections: Autumn 2007, Autumn 2008, Spring 2013)

  • Liberal Arts 498: Literary Studies – The Gothic Tradition: Literature, Art, Culture, Film. Explores the historical and cultural progression of the Gothic tradition, from the genre’s precursory Gothic Wars, to current conceptions of Gothic, Southern Gothic, and Gothic counterculture. (Spring 2010)

  • Leadership Educational Excellence in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Program (LEND). Invited Lecturer and Curriculum Developer for graduate and postgraduate medical trainees.
