Art of Walking - Journal Assignment
We will be taking the Discovery District Art Walk ♦ East Broad Street Route
→ Art of Walking
http://columbus.gov/publichealth/programs/Healthy-Places/Art-Walks/Discovery-District-Art-Walk/
→ Art of Walking Map
This is a collaborative journal describing and analyzing the artwork you are assigned. You may choose for each group member to write their responses and then collect them all and put them in one document, or, you can divide up the questions between the group members, and then collect them all into one document. Since you likely won’t have your laptop while you’re viewing this, you can handwrite it, then type it up and send it to one person to put into one document, or you can handwrite it and choose one person to transcribe it all into one document.
NOTE: For a later assignment, you will collect digital images and data about your assigned artwork, so pick one person to do the collecting for that assignment and one for this assignment. Include names of all group members on each assignment.
Use as much technical language as you know (and you should know some from your classes at CCAD and from watching the Instructional Videos – Writing + Arts on Go Studio you were assigned).
Record as much information as you can. This doesn’t need to be complete or polished at this point, but you want to get as much detail and description as you can right now.
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER

Art of Walking Part 2: Collection Journal
For this part of the project you will collect visual and textual information about your assigned artwork; specifically, you are gathering all the images, websites, webpages, etc. that you can about your assigned artwork. You will organize and label all of this (along with the information from your Art of Walking Journal) into one place in the next assignment. So gather all the visual and textual information you can.
Do the following searches, which you can divide up however you want amongst your group. Again, collect all the data into one document, and include the names of each group members. Search for any of the terms you have related to the work you explored:
Names of the creators/artists, names of the creations/artwork/architecture, names of surrounding places/artworks, dates, locations, time periods, art movements, etc. Include the URL links and titles of websites/pages you find because you will need these later. You can use the questions from the Art of Walking Journal Assignment to help guide you and inspire you in your search. If you only had one actual piece you looked at/wrote about, you really need to think about the location/environment/other surroundings of your work, along with whatever your work is referencing historically/culturally/politically/etc. Also, if you have questions, ask me!
